Disable firmware update HP printers

Disable HP’s automatic firmware updates and prevent error messages. This action has no effect on the performance of your printer.

• The following message may appear on your printer if there has been a firmware update.
  

Follow the steps below to solve this problem.

• Click on the gear in the control panel and select Setup.
  
• Scroll down and select ‘Printer maintenance’.
  
• Scroll down and select ‘Update the printer’.
  
• Click on ‘Printer update options’.
  
• Select ‘Do not check’.
  
• Select ‘No’ to disable automatic updates. This ensures that non-original cartridges can be used.

• Disabling automatic updates has no effect on the performance of your printer.
